GroupLoops

GroupLoops is a winner of the 2009 Grant Opportunities|Collaborative Spaces (GROCS) award, which funds interdisciplinary graduate research teams to design a project of their choosing. Our team's goal was to design and develop an iPhone music application to promote collaborative, fun and spontaneous music-making. We interviewed several individuals involved in music - engineering, education, performance - and created lo-fi and hi-fi prototypes of our ideas. The result: an application that plays different musical sounds depnding on what gesture the user makes with the phone - swinging to the left, right or center. The GroupLoops project was completed in collaboration with three team members, but I led the software development of gesture recognition component.
